African and Asian elephants are quite distinct from each other and I have heard it said that the only similarities between the two is that they are both big land mammals that have a trunk and some form of tusks. Can you tell the differences?
If you thought the first picture was an African elephant and the second was an Asian elephant, then you would be right! African elephants are usually larger, with bigger ears, longer tusks. The head of Asian elephants have two humps and a dented forehead. Their trunks only have one finger, whereas the African elephants have two fingers. These are just a few of the many differences between the two.
