- They are fish eaters and will dive into the water to catch their prey.
- Cormorants and shags are known for standing out in the sun, with their wings spread out, after they have been diving for their food. While there are a number of theories as to why they do this, no one really knows for sure.
- In some countries, such as China and Japan, fisherman have trained cormorants to do their fishing for them. These is not very common anymore, but in Gifu Prefecture in Japan, this method of fishing has been used for over 1,000 years!
